Almost there - the last big day out

Todays effort from Arzua to Rua was some 20 klms and I am pleased to say I made it the whole way and arrived in the pack at the end so I think I am over my bug and almost back to some trail fitness. The walk is much more populated than England and we have formed the view that it is sound marketing strategy to have the first cafĂ© stop on the route each day. Yesterday we arrived at a top for lunch and it was mayhem. Pete and I ordered sandwiches and they seemed to take foever - I think the first time they cam out they were given to someone else who must have got a free lunch. No number  system or anything that sophisticated. A room full of people all clamouring for food and drink with Dire Straits Alchemy blaring out at significant volume. What started out as a 10 minute stop turned into a 45 minute rest break. C'est la vie.

Wandered into Rua at about 3PM . Rooms were spacious and comfortable if a little worse for wear. Had an excellent dinner of Shrimp Crepe with Veal Burger and Chips and Mango Ice Cream for dessert. Read my Brandon Sanderson short story and then went to sleep.

Up this morning for a latish breakfast before heading off at about 9.30 for a short but strenuous walk of 11klms to Lavacolla just 11klms short of our final destination of Santiago de la Compestela. Had Vege soup, chicken breast and chips and ice cream for lunch and will retire for a siesta shortly.

We have a free day in Santiago on Saturday and if the weather is fine we might head off to Finnisterre (the end of the earth).
