Left Seville in the pre dawn for the trip to Gibraltar and then Costa Del Sol. Went on a tour of some of the key highlights of Gibraltar which is a pretty impressive piece of rock. Very expensive. Prices in British Pounds although Euros, Gibraltar Pounds and UK Pounds are all valid currencies.
The visibility on the day was excellent so we were easily able to see Africa from the island.
Hopefully we will have some reasonable panoramas when we stitch them together.
After Gibraltar it was along the Costa Del Sol where it reminded me a lot of the Gold Coast but in a different style of architecture. Some impressive mountains near the sea. In Spain they don't bother going round the mountains they just tunnel straight through them so there are a lot of tunnels.
The we went to a quaint hilltop village called Mijas but again from our perspective slightly too long a stay to cater for the shoppers. Also the seemingly inevitable religious miracle also happened in the town as well. Doesn't hurt the tourist trade.
Then on to Torremolinos for a two night stay. As this is the Spanish Riviera but at the end of the season it is highly commercialised. The dining room at the hotel had a big all you can eat buffet last night but there were about 200 people in the dining room so it was very hectic crowded and noisy but it was a a nice big feed with lots of different choices.
Today has been a most relaxing free day and the lads are on their own for dinner.
Next report will be from Grenada then Valencia then Barcelona so the end is in sight.
Missing everyone at home and will be home soonish
Take care
Eric: Today was a well needed rest from the long days, bus rides and rush of the last eight or so days. And where better to do it than in Torremolinos along Costa Del Sol..
But before that we crossed over to the British territory of Gibraltar aka the Rock. Steeped in history, this place is worth a visit, if only for the view of Africa across the sea or a taste of fish and chips with mushy peas.
Monday was spent in Torremolinos doing not much. It was the holiday we needed from this holiday and will serve to recharge us for the remaining days ahead. Most of my time was spent on the beach soaking up the autumn Mediterranean sun with just a break to have lunch with the guys; the best paella so far this trip.
Also, I peed in the Mediterranean sea.
